‘Serious allegations’: Reports Perrottet considered public service role for Elliott
NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns has called on Premier Dominic Perrottet to front the media and provide clarity over whether state Transport Minister David Elliott was offered a public service posting in London.
The premier canvassed two trade-related positions with Mr Elliott, including the position of agent-general in London, according to one of the Nine newspapers.
The London role is a statutory appointment, meaning it falls under the responsibility of the public service, not the ministers.
When probed over whether such discussions with the transport minister over the agent-general position took place, the premier’s office declined to answer.
“These are serious allegations, and I’ve always found Mr Perrottet – notwithstanding our differences – to be pretty upfront, I think he needs to front the media today and explain what’s going on,” Mr Minns told Sky News Australia.
“At least issue a firm denial if it’s true or not.”
