Ballistic missiles are China’s ‘disproportionate’ reaction
Shadow Foreign Minister Simon Birmingham says China’s reaction to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is “disproportionate” as the nation fires ballistic missiles close to the region.
“The type of military activities we’re seeing in response to it are a disproportionate reaction,” he told Sky News Australia.
Mr Birmingham said we should not be seeing demonstrations of firing ballistic missiles or the build-up of military assets.
“All of which risk military misadventure.”
