Great Barrier Reef has been ‘doing well for at least the last 50 years’
IPA Senior Fellow Dr Jennifer Marohasy says she has seen “no overall change in coral cover” to the Great Barrier Reef as a whole for the last 50 years.
“For individual reefs, they can be very affected, for example by a cyclone, they can wipe out a reef and after, you get renewal,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“So you have cycles of death and destruction and then renewal at individual reefs but overall the Great Barrier Reef has been doing well for at least the last 50 years.”
