ABC takes Greens flag controversy and ‘turns it against everyone else’
Sky News host Chris Kenny says ABC’s national radio took the controversy about the Greens shunning the Australian flag and “turned it against everyone else”.
Mr Kenny said ABC host Patricia Karvelas decided to eschew the Greens’ debate in an interview with Country Liberal Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price and talk about Opposition Leader Peter Dutton standing in front of just an Australian flag.
“So much of the ABC is just so out of touch with mainstream values,” he said.
Mr Kenny said Ms Karvelas had outspoken Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe for a “much less challenging interview” which saw the senator decry Australia’s colonial history.
“Despite colonisation happening more than 200 years ago and ending 121 years ago when we became an independent nation, Senator Thorpe seems to think there’s still a need to turn the tables on a colonial power,” he said.
“What is more of a worry is this is what you get when you vote Green and the Greens did well at this election.
“To have actual legislators, people in the Senate, who have such a wrong-headed view of our political system and such a resentful attitude to their fellow Australians, well that is very concerning.”
