Liberal Senator James McGrath says Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has proven she’s “an embarrassment and a clown” after her recent comments about not identifying as an Australian.

“I think she’s a nasty clown, someone who is spitting in the face of a democracy that allowed all of us to run for parliament,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“She’s using her privilege as this elitist snob just to deride Australia.”
