‘Big Rip’: Universe may expand ‘faster than the fabric of space time can keep up’
Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson says “there are some ideas” about how much time the earth has left but “we still don’t know enough about the force that will end it all”.

Mr Tyson said the “Big Rip” is one of these theories.
“If the expansion of the universe accelerates at a continued rate and it goes unchecked, the universe will be expanding – in 22 billion years – it will be expanding faster than the fabric of space-time can keep up with it,” he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“And it will just rip, and I’m terrified by this.”
