World War II veteran Sydney George Kinsman dies
One of the last remaining Rats of Tobruk – Sydney George Kinsman – has died aged 100.
Mr Kinsman was one of 14,000 Australians to hold the Libyan port of Tobruk against the Germans during World War II.
He was captured by the Germans in 1942 during the First Battle of El Alamein and was held in three separate prisoner of war camps. Mr Kinsman managed to escape with several others a year later.
