‘Harrowing’: Emergency departments in Victorian hospitals at ‘breaking point’
Sky News host Peta Credlin says emergency departments in Victorian hospitals are at “breaking point” as another code orange was called this week.
Emergency departments across the state were under increased pressure as 39 ambulances ramped outside hospitals unable to unload patients needing critical care.
At one stage during the night, 70 urgent calls for an ambulance went unanswered.
Victorian Liberal MP James Newbury read out a list of the dead during a parliamentary hearing on Friday.
“These are not statistics, they’re Victorians who should have been able to expect an ambulance and emergency care but who didn’t get it,” Ms Credlin said.
“This death toll is real but what is most harrowing to me are the ages of the dead in just the past six months alone.”
