Record drought threatens US salmon supply
Record drought is threatening the United States’ salmon supply.
Fish numbers have dropped markedly in California due to a rise in temperatures and a drop in river levels.
The weather conditions are affected already-endangered winter-run Chinook salmon species, with records showing just 2.6 per cent of juveniles survived the hot and dry summer.
Experts are warning if this species goes extinct, other types of salmon will soon follow.
