Zoe Daniel running against Tim Wilson is an ‘anti-Coalition movement'
The Australian’s Editor-at-Large Paul Kelly says former ABC reporter Zoe Daniel running against Tim Wilson for the seat of Goldstein in Melbourne at the next election is an “anti-Coalition movement”.
“It’s very much centred on climate change but it does create problems for the Morrison government because it essentially highlights the extent to which it’s under attack from the progressive left on the one hand as well as the conservative side on the other hand,” Mr Kelly told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“My own instinct is to think that these people are unlikely to take a seat away from the Morrison government at the election, but they do have a capacity to undermine sitting Liberal MPs in their seats.
“And clearly, there’s got to be a very conservative push back on the part of the government and the Liberal Party against these independents and to properly categorise them for what they are, and they are essentially, of course, anti-Coalition independents.”
