Dutton ‘ill advised’ to say Australia would join US war to defend Taiwan
Defence Minister Peter Dutton was “ill-advised” to say Australia would join an American war against China to defend Taiwan, according to The Australian's Foreign Affairs Editor Greg Sheridan.
“Although I admire Peter Dutton, and I think he’s got the right spirit for a defence minister, I thought he was very ill-advised to say we would join an American war against China to protect Taiwan,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Everyone knows that we would, of course, we would.
“But in government, senior ministers, especially defence ministers, should never talk about military confrontation with another nation.”
